A conference featuring a number of prominent Australian CEOs is on now, discussing better ways to include LGBTI staff in all working environments.

This week’s Pride in Practice LGBTI workplace conference is looking at ways to reduce stigma and bias, and broadly increase workplace participation and comfort for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and intersex communities.

Attendees including six of Australia’s leading CEOs will hear from Australian Human Rights Commissioner, Gillian Triggs, who will outline recent amendments to the Sex Discrimination Act and what they mean for employers and employees.

“LGBTI inclusion had been referred to as the ‘new frontier’ of diversity and inclusion and can no longer be ignored. It is fast becoming the new imperative for organisations that want to differentiate themselves in this space,” conference organiser Dawn Hough from Pride in Diversity, said.

“Job-seekers are becoming more selective and actively looking for organisations active in creating inclusive cultures where they can be themselves.”

The Gender Centre, ACON, LGBTI Christian advocates and Ambassadors, and Bridge Builders International’s Anthony Venn-Brown are among members of the LGBTI community to address corporate heavyweights from NAB, KPMG, Lend Lease, Goldman Sachs, Telstra, IBM and other forward-thinking companies.
