Qantas has announced the resignation of Corinne Namblard as a director of the company following reports she was involved in Italian court proceedings.

“Ms Namblard was especially concerned to ensure that the continuing media focus on the current Italian proceedings did not distract Qantas from implementing its strategic imperatives,” Qantas Chairman Leigh Clifford said.

Ms Namblard was at pains to deny any wrong doing in relation to the Italian corruption investigation, which is investigating alleged corrupt dealings with the privitisation of Siena airport.

Since joining the Qantas Board in 2011, Ms Namblard has brought her considerable qualifications and experience to bear for the benefit of Qantas, and has demonstrated integrity in her approach to Board matters. The Board wishes Ms Namblard the very best for the future,” added Mr Clifford.
