An important gap has been filled to enhance safety and equality at work sites of all kinds.

An Australian company has launched a line of high-visibility workwear for women.

The bright orange safety attire is designed for hard-working women by hard-working women, with the launch of new business ‘She’s Empowered’ bringing a feminine touch to rough and ready designs.

She’s Empowered founder Kym Clark says her work at the Foxleigh coal mine in Queensland inspired her to use softer fabrics and more flattering designs in a line of women's mining workwear.

The company is now spruiking its wares in a tour of sites and stores around the country.

To come up with the fashionable yet functional outfits, Ms Clark spoke to workers across a range of different high-intensity workplaces, asking what about their uniforms worked and what could be improved.

The She’s Empowered range features eight separate overall female body shapes in a full array of sizes.

The styles comfortably accommodate all shapes, whilst maintaining high visibility, safety and protective properties of the clothes.

The designs importantly include maternity workwear, so that pregnant employees can be adequately covered, rather than the tradition of having to wear a men's shirt unbuttoned over a singlet.

Ms Clark says the workwear is aimed at making the neglected part of the workforce feel comfortable and confident in a uniform that fits and protects them.
