Alan Edwards has been appointed as the country’s new Federal Safety Commissioner, following the recent departure of Jeff Willing from the role.

Mr Edwards has had extensive experience in both the public and private sectors of work health and safety, including the management of several major Commonwealth initiatives.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to contribute to such a worthwhile Scheme that has already done so much to promote a systems based approach to reducing injuries and saving lives of working Australians,” Mr Edwards said.

Mr Edwards thanked Julie Rheese for her work as the acting Federal Safety Commissioner over the past few months, and  said he is looking forward to working with her, other members of the OFSC, and building and construction industry stakeholders to further encourage a safer industry.
