More contract fights have broken out at the Roy Hill mine, amid which the company has announced some new deals.

Reports say Roy Hill backer Samsung C&T is facing court over claims it failed to make payments to Thai metal suppler Best Tech & Engineering (BTE).

It is alleged that BTE was contracted to supply 15,000 tonnes of modular steel products for the iron ore mine, but that Samsung refused to make contractually agreed payments.

Samsung claims BTE breached agreements in their contract, which would have allowed Samsung to get a bank guarantee.

“In short, the plaintiff [BTE] considers that the defendant has failed to make payments which are due to it under the contract. The defendant [Samsung], on the other hand, has taken the view that the plaintiff has failed to comply with a number of its contractual obligations,” the court documents state.

Meanwhile, Perth engineering company Lynxrail is preparing to install its Automated Train Examiner (ATEx) technology at the Roy Hill rail line.

ATEx combines optics, electronics and machine vision software to constantly judge the condition of rolling stock components while trains are in service.

Roy Hill will use Lynxrail’s wheel profile monitor, brake shoe monitor, hunting and tracking monitors and an acoustic bearing monitor (RailBam from Adelaide Company TrackIQ) to spot faulty wheel bearings.
