The Victorian Government has announced it will commit $72 million to boost transport and planning infrastructure in Melbourne’s west.

State Planning Minister, Matthew Guy, said that a suite of projects will attract investment, create jobs and services.

Mr Guy said this vital infrastructure will give 50,000 prospective workers and 20,000 residents access to integrated regional and state transport networks. Local infrastructure projects for the East Werribee Employment Precinct include:

  • $16.9 million to begin upgrading Sneydes Road to connect the site with regional arterial road networks and Sneydes Road Freeway interchange;
  • $9.6 million for the realignment of the Hoppers Lane-Princes Highway intersection to improve safety and provide an attractive area for new business investment;
  • $3.1 million for phase two environmental site assessments to get the Crown land ready for development;
  • $2.5 million to identify ways to develop the Crown land for future businesses and jobs; and
  • $500,000 for development options for the heritage listed farm buildings.
