In the Adviser Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Governancerole you will play a key part in supporting and mentoring our staff on the journey to becoming a world-class safety organisation. 

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Interpret and provide professional guidance to ensure compliance with company and legislative requirements
  • Support, coach and mentor managers and supervisors in the use of Queensland Rail's Safety Management System
  • Review Risk Assessments, Safe Work Method Statements and support the incident investigation process
  • Roll out and support business safety initiatives
  • Liaise with workers at all levels within Queensland Rail
  • Promote a positive safety culture

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including report writing, consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Experience in Transport or industrial sectors
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate with key stakeholders to influence positive risk and safety outcomes
  • Experience in blue collar and/or corporate environments
  • A tertiary qualification is desirable
