The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking an Engineering Coordinator to deliver sustainable, efficient, and compliant engineering services at the NGV International and NGV Australia. The Engineering Coordinator will also contribute to the planning of future facilities including NGV Contemporary.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Working with the Building Engineer, you will ensure that the NGV’s facilities remain fit for purpose, are maintained efficiently and effectively, and meet all compliance requirements. Other responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the delivery of Essential, Mechanical, Electrical, and Hydraulic Services, through a mix of inhouse and outsourced resourcing, to maximise the life of the NGV’s building assets. 
  • Ensuring that engineering services represent value for money for the NGV through effective procurement, active contract management and sound budget control.
  • Supporting the Building Engineer to manage operating and capital budgets, contributing to the development of the NGV Asset Management Strategy and drafting funding submissions and business cases for internal and external funding of new projects, initiatives and assets.
  • Supporting environmentally sustainable engineering services at the NGV and leading projects and initiatives to reduce the NGV’s carbon footprint, particularly in energy and water usage.

To be successful you will have tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering coupled with previous experience and knowledge in the delivery of Engineering Services (Essential, Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic) in public buildings. You will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Building Codes, Digital Engineering, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and building management systems as well as the principles and practices of Equal Opportunity, Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, and the ability to apply them to work practices.

You will be enthusiastic and committed and demonstrate capacity for sustained effort and hard work. You seek all relevant information for problem solving, investigate and probe for the facts, liaise with stakeholders, analyse issues from different perspectives and draw sound inferences from information available and identify and propose workable solutions to problems.
