ABOUT THE ROLE

A key member of the Open Space Maintenance Unit in City Infrastructure and based at the Depot, the Inspecting Arborist reports to Coordinator, Open Space Tree Maintenance. The role involves Inspection of Council trees (Visual Tree Assessment) and report writing, familiarity Tree Risk Assessment methodology, customer interactions and helping them understand Council interventions and when we prune or remove trees, educating residents about Moreland's Urban Forest Strategy. You are required to have a Degree or Advanced Diploma in Arboriculture (AQF Level 6) or equivalent. Experience in a similar role in local government and expertise in the management of an urban forest would be advantageous.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE 

  • Extensive experience in Arboriculture and Open Space Maintenance;
  • A Diploma/Cert V in Arboriculture from a recognised TAFE or school of arboriculture/horticulture or equivalent;
  • Demonstrated customer service skills;
  • A current Victorian Driving Licence;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
