Job Description

  • This Project Manager will work in the Building Projects team. The Building Project team oversees the design and delivery of all the capital works for our building assets. These include upgrades to our aquatic centres, our libraries, our car parks, our town halls and may other facilities. 
  • Some key projects that this role will be responsible for managing are the renewal works at our maternal child health centres, our recreation centres and our libraries
  • This Project Manager will be responsible for working with a broad range of stakeholders within the organisation and in the community. Every day is different for a Project Manager at Council. One day you will be doing site visits, the next day you'll be in design meetings reviewing the budget and preparing tender documentation.
  • Our building projects team oversee some of the most complex and challenging projects in local government such as the redevelopment of Prahran Town Hall, Harold Holt Swim Centre and a new netball stadium. We're also responsible for ensuring our existing buildings are compliant and we're working hard to make them more sustainable and accessible.
  • This is a key role within the organisation that has a huge impact on peoples lives.

Desired Skills and Experience

To succeed in this position you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in one of the following related disciplines: project management, architecture, engineering or construction with several years relevant experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • A positive attitude and excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to learn new things quickly and work independently
  • Understanding of project management principles and applying them to building works
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Experience procuring contracts and ensuring probity
