Senior Sustainability Advisor 

Your role as a Senior Sustainability Advisor, is to deliver best practice strategic leadership, provide on-the-ground support and deliver outstanding results through our transformative and globally-recognised sustainability program.

This unique and impactful role will see you developing and delivering strategies aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), upskilling employees on sustainability topics, assisting different teams with specific sustainability initiatives, and liaising directly with the Group Executive for QLD and Transurban Queensland (TQ) Leadership Team on key opportunities.

This role is flexible to be worked on a 3, 4 or 5 day a week basis.

The impact you’ll have:

  • Execute and continuously improve Transurban’s UN Sustainable Development Goal-aligned sustainability strategy
  • Integrate sustainability into major projects and key business processes such as procurement and asset management
  • Contribute to governance aspects of the sustainability program including materiality assessments, risk mitigation, reporting / communication and opportunity utilisation
  • Effectively communicate the sustainability program and related activities and achievements in TQ and across the Transurban Group
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with key external stakeholders, particularly focussing on the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA), relevant local councils and the Department of Transport and Main Roads;
  • Provide guidance and support in relation to any Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) ratings; and
  • Identify, design and execute sustainable research and development pilot projects for TQ.

The talents you’ll bring:

  • Excellent understanding of triple-bottom-line sustainability principles and commercial drivers for sustainability.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Infrastructure Sustainability Rating Scheme (as managed by the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and managing energy efficiency initiatives (highly desirable)
  • Capable of producing high quality management reports and delivering high quality presentations to a range of audiences.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field.
  • Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (highly desirable)
  • Strong Interpersonal, analysis and project management skills
