Our client is a leading electro-mechanical manufacturer, providing in-house capabilities for production, spanning small pump-sets to extensive turn-key projects. Specialising in water, sewage, and slurry systems, they provide tailored solutions and bespoke offerings and display a track record of successful and innovative engineering solutions for the delivery of turn-key projects.

The Role:

As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role and hold significant responsibility for overseeing the entire process of designing, supplying, constructing, procuring, commissioning, and controlling project engineering for manufactured pumping products. With full autonomy, you will be the lead of your discipline, exercising ultimate control and direction.

  • Lead the design, review, and certification processes for water reticulation systems and mechanical skids, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Uphold company safety and environmental systems, contributing to a risk management culture and maximizing safety in project activities.
  • Manage engineering execution and activities to deliver high-quality products within budget and on time, providing leadership to a small team of designers, engineers, and draftspersons.
  • Adhere to best practices and industry standards in the design processes, ensuring comprehensive, compliant, and cohesive electrical engineered products.
  • Review and certify engineered drawings, sign off on designs, and ensure compliance with RPEQ certification for electrical engineering designs.
  • Oversee turnkey projects for water reticulation systems, WTP/STP, Reagent/Flocculant Plants, Automated Wash Systems, site services, installation, and commissioning, ensuring on-time and in-budget project engineering deliverables.
  • Foster effective communication with various departments, and clients, promoting a harmonious and productive working environment, resolving technical or logistical issues, and enhancing the company's image through clear and professional communication.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering specialising in Water Technologies or equivalent Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; Mechanical Fitter Qualifications desirable
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role with expertise in various pumping systems and water technologies; experience in pumping control systems and PLC equipment required.
  • High level of experience in the design of water reticulation systems
  • Membership in Engineers Australia with RPEQ/CPEng/NER credentials
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, along with effective communication skills; a high level of literacy and accuracy is essential.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Intranet, Internet, MYOB, AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, etc.
  • Proven initiative and self-motivation; ability to work collaboratively in a team with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a keen attention to detail; ability to thrive in a dynamic and challenging work environment.
