Municipal Building Surveyor

Permanent full-time position

Senior Officer Contract (negotiable based on Qualifications/Experience)

Maribyrnong City Council is undergoing significant change in population growth, redevelopment, gentrification, and a transitioning economy is leading to an influx of new residents, businesses and opportunities.

Our Building Services team is looking for a qualified and experienced Building Surveyor to lead an enthusiastic Building team whilst ensuring that Council adheres to all relevant Building legislation.

You will play an integral role in developing a culture of quality, industry best practice and customer focus across the building services area and have the ability to develop, review and streamline systems and processes to ensure flexible and responsive service delivery.

Experience in issuing Building and occupancy permits, undertaking essential safety measures inspections and issuing certificates in accordance with relevant Acts and Regulations and Council policies and Local Laws is required. Experience in the issue of Notices and Orders as required including the investigation and prosecution of breaches of orders and relevant Acts and Regulations is also essential.

You will have relevant tertiary qualifications, along with several years of demonstrated and successful experience in a building surveying role within an urban environment, particularly essential safety measures. In addition, your qualifications and experience will ideally be supported by membership of the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors and you will be a Registered Building Practitioner in the Category Class of Building Surveyor Unlimited in Victoria.

Your ability to liaise with and resolve issues with residents is essential along with your strong leadership, communication and collaborative team building skills are essential to your success in this role.
