Mechanical Fitter

  • Starting from $77,610, with 20% annualised salary (after successful completion of probation)

The opportunity

We are seeking a capable candidate with a can-do attitude who has an interest in the water industry to join our team as a Mechanical Fitter. This role is responsible for undertaking repairs, maintenance and installation of mechanical equipment operated by Icon Water in the ACT and surrounding region. 

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will:

  • Undertaking reactive and scheduled preventative maintenance tasks
  • Complete documentation and reporting requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of preventive and breakdown maintenance work orders, recording of maintenance history, development of maintenance programs and scheduling of maintenance activities for mechanical systems
  • Assist in identifying workplace hazards, conducting risk assessments and performing work in accordance with implemented safe work practices and procedures
  • Participate in an emergency on-call roster as required to provide a 24 hour, 7 day a week breakdown and maintenance service.

The successful applicants will have:

  • Recognised Tradesman’s Certificate in Mechanical Fitting/Turning
  • Demonstrated ability to perform maintenance duties on pumps, valves, gearboxes and other process industry equipment
  • Experience working under and in accordance with a comprehensive safety management system
  • Experience in machining and welding techniques
  • Computing skills with the ability to prepare reports, access information and enter data relating to job planning, scheduling and feedback
  • The ability to work autonomously under limited supervision
