How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
Reporting to the Team Leader Urban Forest and Ecology, you will provide expert advice on a range of tree matters on behalf of Council, working to protect, grow and diversify the city’s urban forest to meet Council goals. You will work to ensure compliance with Council’s Tree Retention and Removal Policy, including management of the tree removal process.
Your resilience, energy and ability to juggle competing priorities will be key to your success in this dynamic, reactive and fast-paced role. Strong interpersonal skills will help you to collaborate with many areas and at all levels across Council. You will build strong stakeholder relationships within and outside of the organisation to achieve the best urban forest outcomes in a complex capital city environment. Your excellent customer service skills will support your regular interactions with the community.
You will work closely with the wider Urban Forest and Ecology team and support a wide array of projects, but also demonstrate confidence in working autonomously and leading consultative processes and conversations. Familiarity with using asset management programs and spatial mapping software will be beneficial, and you will be well-versed in data management, record keeping and adhering to process.

•Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
•Well-developed data management skills.
•A tertiary qualification in Arboriculture, Horticulture, Forest Science or equivalent.
•Experience working in arboriculture consultancy or a related role.
•Highly developed organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple, competing and complex tasks in a fast paced environment.
•Proven ability to direct and manage contractors, consultants and staff, including budget management
•Outstanding customer service, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
