Motor Mechanic (Qualified)

This is your opportunity to bring your existing qualifications to a rewarding career as a Motor Mechanic in the Air Force, in a role that is not your typical mechanic job.

Your role

As a Motor Mechanic in the Air Force, you’ll be responsible for maintaining a variety of vehicles and airfield support equipment. Whilst the techniques a civilian mechanic would use are similar, the range of equipment you’ll maintain is not. From aviation vehicles and aircraft loading systems, to aircraft arrestor systems and refuelling equipment, there will be no lack of variety.

You’ll be part of an important support team and provided with world-class training to further develop your skills, including tailored electrical/electronic training to further broaden the range of equipment you work on.

On top of this, the breadth of experiences, training, and multitude of licenses you’ll receive will set you up for a rewarding career in the Air Force and beyond. No two days will be the same in this role, and on top of this, your ‘workshop’ could be in one of many locations across Australia, and even overseas.

This is your chance to carry out critical mechanical work in an exciting aviation environment.

Salary

You'll earn a good salary from day one, with a starting salary of $51,277 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation when you begin your training, which increases as you progress.

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $73,253 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation.

Location

Upon completion of your training in Wagga Wagga, NSW and Victoria, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia such as RAAF Base Amberley, RAAF Base Darwin or RAAF Base Tindal.

Life in the Air Force

When you join the Air Force, you’ll benefit from our investment in your professional growth and development, enjoy great work/life balance, a supportive team environment and extensive benefits – from free healthcare to excellent fitness facilities. Plus, there’s the potential for overseas travel.

In addition, there’s the meaningful experiences that come with serving your country. From participating in Air Force exercises and operations to providing support to communities in need, this is your opportunity to take on a career with many rewarding dimensions.
