The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) is looking for individuals who have a passion or background in Operational Technology Environments (OTE) to support the Australian Government's efforts to improve cyber security, and our role to help make Australia the safest place to connect online. Our key stakeholders are critical infrastructure operators, Government departments, and the broader cyber security community. 

We work with operators of Australia’s essential services such as banking, energy, health, food, telecommunications, transport, and water to identify and mitigate cyber risks to high value assets. We are looking for people who are able to anticipate, assess, and advise on cyber security vulnerabilities, and to appreciate and understand the business drivers and models of Australian industry, in order to produce practical and relevant cyber security advice to customers. 

Previous experience or knowledge of cyber security is not essential. Your operational technology and industrial control systems knowledge and experience will be highly regarded, and we can support your cyber security professional development. 

As a Cyber Specialist in Operational Technology and Industrial Control Systems, you will have a strong desire to commence or continue a career in cyber security, with a focus on with some, or all, of the following skills: 

  • Configuring, deploying and/or maintaining Operational Technology;
  • Identifying and analysing areas of risk in Operational Technology Environments;
  • Reviewing and producing technical documentation; and
  • Identifying and recommending practical cyber security measures.

Formal training in Operational Technology Environments is highly desirable, and we are looking for smart, technical, people who have demonstrated experience with some or all of the following:

  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems;
  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS);
  • Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS);
  • Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs);
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs); or
  • Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). 

We are also looking for experienced cyber threat modelers and vulnerability assessors to enhance good security practices in this field.
