About the Engineering Services Department
This department is part of our City Services Division, and is responsible for the effective and sustainable management of Council’s infrastructural  assets, including the planning, design, and delivery of a number of asset-related services.

About the Role
This position provides traffic management input into traffic management plans, permits, policies and planning activities across the City, and implements solutions based on sound engineering principles.

This is a temporary full-time position for 12 months.

Some of the key responsibilities in this role will include

1. Maintaining an efficient record collection for traffic management consents related to various Council permits approvals.
2. Reviewing, developing and providing comment on Council policies regarding traffic and transport matters.
3. Providing traffic management comments and advice in respect to streetscape proposals, projects, strategies and traffic management matters within the City.
4. When required, preparing Council reports for review and providing regular project status reports.
5. Providing input into the proposed occupation of or closure of Council roads.
6. Providing advice in the management of Council parking permits, polices and applications.
7. Delivering an excellent customer experience in relation to matters concerning the City’s transport and traffic management, including the resolution of complex customer enquiries and concerns relating to the role.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will require:

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and/or relevant industry experience.
• Traffic management experience in urban and regional areas.
• Sound knowledge of relevant policy and legislation, including the Road Management Act 2004.
• Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with professional engineers and people of similar disciplines in the administration of defined activities.
• Written communication skills of an order sufficient to effectively prepare routine correspondence and reports relating to field of expertise.
