We currently have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and capable Health & Safety Manager to join our Quality, Safety & Environment team.

The Role

Reporting to the QSE Manager, the role of the Health & Safety Manager is to develop and drive a culture of safety across all areas of our business. You will be responsible for ensuring our business remains compliant to all relevant OH&S legislation and to embed a culture of Safety at SPC across all roles in the organisation.

This is a key role within the business with Health & Safety making a significant contribution to SPC’s overall business results. We are seeking an experienced Safety professional to bring insight, innovation and inspiration to your work, whilst delivering high quality outcomes in a fast paced and results driven environment.

The scope of the role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Review and maintain the Health and Safety Management System in the workplace as per legal guidelines.
  • Evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to regulations.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
  • Conduct safety audits across all sites to identify current and potential risks.
  • Communicate risks and suggested solutions to the Quality Safety and Environment Manager in a timely fashion 
  • Measure, monitor and report on Health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings with delegates and ensure minutes are accurate and distributed to all relevant parties
  • Ensure all points raised in OH&S meetings are addressed within specified timeframes.
  • Engage, support and influence SPC management and employees to achieve a proactive safety culture across all business units.
  • Develop and implement strategies to communicate all H&S policies and procedures.
  • Develop initiatives to promote Health and Safety improvement strategies across the business.
  • Coach on site delegates in the implementation of the solutions
  • Oversee the management of Workcover activities

The successful candidate will be experienced in influencing and driving change in both safety processes and mindset by engaging others to develop safety culture champions and developing programs that promote a culture of safety.

Holding tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety, you will have a thorough understanding and experience in applying principles of OHSA 18001 or 45001 and the ability to educate and oversee the application of relevant OH&S legislation.

We are looking for an applicant with experience in leading safety audits in an FMCG production environment. The successful applicant must hold a valid Australian Drivers license.

You have walked the floor and know what needs to be done in both a manufacturing and a corporate environment. You create a culture of where people are not afraid to raise concerns and you act as a champion for safety at all times.
