Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated transport infrastructure and precincts planning project that will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, as well as investment in the suburbs, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is the statutory body established to plan all elements of the project, procure builders, develop structure planning for SRL Precincts and oversee construction and the other changes that will help transform Melbourne and Victoria.

About the opportunity

The Deputy Director, Engineering Contracts, positioned within the Rail & Infrastructure Delivery (R&I) branch and reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Engineering & Assurance, plays a key role in the strategic management and administration of technical and engineering service contracts critical to the Suburban Rail Loop project. This role requires a strong leader capable of overseeing a multifaceted team to ensure the effective delivery of engineering and technical services, aligned with compliance SRLA's Procurement and Contract Management frameworks with other government requirements. With a focus on fostering positive relationships both internally and externally, the Deputy Director, Engineering Contracts will navigate complex stakeholder engagements, manage technical contractual compliance and performance, and lead initiatives for financial and strategic planning within the project's scope.

Key to this role is an adeptness in high-level interpersonal skills, leveraging an ability to cultivate strategic business relationships while effectively balancing competing priorities under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will have a high degree of independence, with the autonomy to make critical decisions that shape project priorities and outcomes. Ideal for a professional with an extensive background in the delivery of engineering and technical services within large-scale rail infrastructure projects, this position calls for experience in steering significant rail and infrastructure initiatives from an engineering delivery standpoint.
