Sunshine Coast bus drivers will walk off the job on November 1.

The Transport Workers Union has announced that Sunbus drivers will take protected industrial action over an ongoing pay dispute.

More exact details are unclear, but TWU state secretary Peter Biagini has told reporters that members did not want to cause inconvenience to the community.

"Protected industrial action is a last resort for our bus drivers and this follows long-term negotiations for an agreement in tough negotiations with all other options exhausted," he said.

“We are doing everything in our power to minimise inconvenience, working towards an agreement with the company, notifying passengers in advance and we have scheduled a meeting with the company next Friday in an attempt to resolve outstanding issues.”

Mr Biagini says Sunshine Coast drivers just want to be paid the same rate and given the same overtime as bus drivers on the Gold Coast.
