Logistics giant DHL has signed a new three-year partnership with the MotoGP, in a partnership that will see DHL support the logistics needs of several motorcycle world championships.

“We are very excited about having the opportunity to get behind the handlebars of the championship’s logistics operation and to offer high quality international shipping services to MotoGP,” said DHL Express CEO Ken Allen.

“I am very pleased to have reached this agreement with a company like DHL because the result will be very beneficial for both parties,” said Pau Serracanta, Managing Director at Dorna, the company behind MotoGP and its sister competitions, Moto2 and Moto3.

“Dorna will benefit from a logistics service that spans the globe, which will allow us to maintain our values of speed and efficiency on which the championship has been built.”

The 2015 MotoGP season includes eighteen races in fourteen countries, more than 80 bikes and 350 tonnes of equipment for the teams and championship organisers. The cargo is transported by sea, air and road across a total distance of approximately 90,000 km over just nine months.

DHL says its experience leaves it well positioned to help ensure that the ‘race before the race’ runs seamlessly and on-time.
